The Yarra Valley is currently in the top four regions for equestrian participation in Australia. There are 3,700 people who regularly participate in Equestrian sport in Yarra Valley and over 53,000 people in Victoria every week. With no central equestrian hub, participants travel to other regions diluting the economics of the Yarra Valley, increasing the risk to the community and reducing the potential participation rates.
There are over forty riding clubs and thousands of riders in the Yarra Valley all of whom could benefit from a permanent equestrian home. Their 1,600 individual members would likely substantially grow if provided with appropriate recreational, training and competition facilities. 100% of clubs and club participants interviewed supported the development of an equestrian centre on the Hunt Club Grounds.
